Project: DMaaST - Innovative modelling and assessment capabilities through MaaS for Manufacturing Ecosystem resiliency

DESCRIPTION: Today’s manufacturing sector faces frequent disruptions from factors such as changing demand and supply chain issues, causing inefficiencies and losses. These changes often catch manufacturing ecosystems off guard, leading to inefficiencies and losses. In this context, the EU-funded DMaaST project aims to enhance the manufacturing ecosystem’s capacity for self-adaptation. Harnessing a Smart Manufacturing Platform, it introduces four layers of innovation. Firstly, a robust data layer integrates real-time information across organisations. Then, a two-level cognitive digital twin mimics production processes and value chains, bolstered by human expertise and cutting-edge algorithms. Next, a distributed decision support system employs federated deep learning for optimal decision-making. Finally, user-friendly interfaces and sustainability assessments round out the framework, promising scalability and resilience.

HOLOSS ROLE:

HOLOSS leads on manufacturing value chains, life cycle sustainability assessments, and product life cycle analysis, considering product traceability.

For manufacturing value chains, HOLOSS conducts a Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) for the use-cases which includes 1) Value-chains Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) 2) Value chains Life Cycle Costing (LCC) 3) Value chains Social Life Cycle Assessment (s-LCA) and 4) Core pseudo-algorithms of each combined for a LCSA is developed.

In Products life cycle analysis HOLOSS develop a Product Life Cycle Assessment (PLCA) tool and assess selected use-cases products.

Develop, implement, and validate PLCA algorithms with a traceability plug-in, integrating with systems like EU-DPP for improved tracking.

Identify lean production opportunities and reverse logistics opportunities to ensure sustainable end-of-life product handling, supporting circular economy initiatives.

HOLOSS ensures gender balance in the DMaaST Project by monitoring parity and addressing gender assumptions in research. It also oversees ethical compliance, aligning with EU research integrity standards and international regulations.
